Usually Followed Parenting Types

Authoritative parenting: In this style of parenting the parent is both demanding and responsive. That is the parents demand from their child a good behavior and character and the parents make sure that they teach their children about this. They also give response to their child’s views and thus making the baby think and act independently. In this type of parenting the baby is allowed to act and think in his own way but the parents’ still places control over the children’s actions. The parents raise their children not only with love and care but also with punishments when they make mistake. Thus a balanced way of parenting is created.
Authoritarian parenting: In this type of parenting the parent is demanding but not responsive. The parent sets limit to each and every action of the child but does not provide the child with the basic knowledge of thinking and acting independently and according to the situation. When mistakes are made by children, the parent bash them out with severe punishments and do not hear the child’s reason.
Indulgent parenting: Here the parent does not demand anything but the response towards the child is very effective. It is also called lenient parenting because the parents are very lenient towards the child. They give all their love and care for the child. Each and every wish of the child is fulfilled without any demand. This type of parenting is not an advisable way to raise a child.
Neglectful parenting: In this way of parenting, the parent in neither responsive nor demanding. The parent does not keep any kind of limits or control on the children. This causes the child to feel neglected and think that the parents do not love her and the child starts living a lonely life. Neglectful parenting is not recommended to be followed.
Each individual may choose their own styles of parenting and modify it with changing children’s needs.
